The day I remembered what football really is.
Since coming to Brazil,
I can't get enough of playing football.
Before being good, winning, or earning recognitionβ
before any of that,
there's the feeling of being alive.
Chasing the ball as if my life depends on it,
throwing myself into every challenge,
getting genuinely angry, laughing, feeling the sting of defeat.
I can't get enough of this feeling.
Nobody here
plays football because someone makes them.
Football is daily life, culture, life itself.
They're grateful to step onto the pitch every day.
They don't take being able to kick a ball for granted.
I think that's why they're so strong.
To be honest,
I felt that Japan still has a long way to go in that respect.
Instructions, evaluations, expectations, the right answer.
Before you know it, football becomes something you just get through.
But really,
football should be freer, more dangerous,
and more fun than that.
Here in Brazil,
I'm starting football all over again.
Not to become a better player.
Not just to earn recognition, either.
To enjoy it with all my heart.
I want to keep putting what I feel here
into words, so I can leave a record.
This is
the story of one person still on the way to his dream.
